Record SNOW on the east coast. Record COLD across the United States. Emails that show professors kept only the information that supported their findings. IPCC putting out a number of reports based on junk science. Then you have the people who fly around in private jets. Who enjoy a lifestyle that has a carbon footprint bigfoot would be envious of telling us we are the cause. When we say we are not sure or do not buy into this theory we are called names and insulted.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. loves to call people names and point the finger at everyone else as the cause. RFK made these statements in a LA Times opinion piece in September of 2008.
Meanwhile, Exxon Mobil and its carbon cronies continue to pour money into think tanks whose purpose is to deceive the American public into believing that global warming is a fantasy.
Corporate America’s media toadies continue to amplify Exxon’s deceptive message. The company can count on its hand puppets — Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, John Stossel and Glenn Beck — to shamelessly mouth skepticism about man-made climate change and give political cover to the oil industry’s indentured servants on Capitol Hill. Oklahoma’s Republican Sen. Jim Inhofe calls global warming “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American public.”
This is the best RFK went on to say this:
“Now John McCain has chosen as his running mate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a diligent student of Big Oil’s crib sheets. She’s something of a flat-earther who shares the current administration’s contempt for science. Palin has expressed skepticism about evolution (which is like not believing in gravity), putting it on par with “creationism,” which posits that the Earth was created 6,000 years ago.
RFK should stay away from things he doesn’t understand. Gravity is not a theory it is a fact. The “theory of Evolution” is as its name denotes is a theory. There is about as much proof for evolution as there is for Global Warming. I wonder if the science for evolution has been handled the same way as we have seen with Global Warming? I must admit I do not know much about Jim Inhofe but kudos to him for being ahead of the curve with his hoax statement. Seems he was right.
RFK continued to dig himself into a hole by saying it will stop snowing during the winters because of Global Warming.
In Virginia, the weather also has changed dramatically. Recently arrived residents in the northern suburbs, accustomed to today’s anemic winters, might find it astonishing to learn that there were once ski runs on Ballantrae Hill in McLean, with a rope tow and local ski club. Snow is so scarce today that most Virginia children probably don’t own a sled.
RFK did say one thing I agree with – well he didn’t say it but quoted it in his article. In light of the past few months these comments are more important than ever. RFK noted that Upton Sinclair pointed out,
“It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it.”
I wonder if RFK or Upton knew how right they were. In light of todays news that quote could be written to say this: “It is difficult to get a man to disprove something when his salary depends upon his proving it.”
RFK wrote in his LA Times article “…glaciers are disappearing at a frightening clip, and “dancing forests” caused by disappearing permafrost astonish residents and tourists.” Take that plus what Upton Sinclair said mix in some of the Climate Gate news from the past few months and what do you get? You get the IPCC telling us the glaciers are going to melt and the rain forest is going to be wiped out both were mentioned in RKF’s peice. The glacier study is worth millions to the IPCC who recieved research grants to study it. These grants were based on their claim of the glaciers are disappearing! What was that about someones salary and understanding things? Now the news comes out the study on the glaciers was bogus and flawed but IPCC gets to keep the millions in grants. Al Gore has made millions on scaring people with Global Warming. The carbon credit market stands to make much more if legislation gets passed in the favor of the global warming fight.
I guess Upton Sinclair did have a point. When peoples paycheck is involved they will do what ever it takes to protect it. For example, hiding evidence, deleting or rejecting information that doesn’t support the findings needed or even passing bogus reports about glaciers melting as fact.
I wonder what RFK has to say now? He and the rest of the Global Warming crew are surprisingly quiet.
My inspiration for this came from David Freddoso who wrote a great article back in december even before the snows of the past few days.
