The most ground breaking strategy for world peace has just been revealed by the white house. This is the actual headline “Obama’s Plan Seeks Security Through Peace” Now that is GENIUS! Why didn’t I think of that sooner? At first glance you may think it is a headline from the Onion. Nope, its real. Why the idea of security through peace has not been thought of until now is just amazing!
Sounds like a good idea but how does it work? That’s a fair question. Below you will find some of the things that make up this new plan.
“armed conflict should be a last resort when diplomacy is exhausted”
“The overarching goal of Obama’s National Security Strategy is to eliminate the need for the U.S. to strike first or take unilateral military action.”
“document calls for more robust U.S. efforts at diplomacy, intelligence gathering and development aid to make the use of military force less likely.”
“The document spells out that force would be carried out in a way that reflects U.S. values and strengthens the nation’s legitimacy in the eyes of an often skeptical world.”
“While the use of force is sometimes necessary, we will exhaust other options before war whenever we can and carefully weigh the costs and risks of action against the costs of risks of inaction,” it says.”
Overall this is a great idea, I think to test this you should try a home experiment.
Drive into a very bad neighborhood with clear bags of cash, jewelry and high end electronics. So now you have something that most people want. Stand in the middle of this area and be nice to everyone you see. Hand out flowers and fliers that say if you try to hurt me or take my stuff I will talk to you first and once that is done then I may take action. While you are standing there make sure you tell everyone you live in a better place than they do and tell them how great it is. If someone attempts to take your stuff say no in a stern tone but not too stern so you don’t offend them. As them to talk it out with you and see if you can resolve the situation with talk. Tell them you are going to take the high road and if they do take your stuff you will not take any of theirs. At the end of the day take your stuff and go home. If you have no stuff left, your car has been stolen and you are hurt or dead you have complete your test. How did the whole “I just want to talk about this” work out for you? I think anyone with half a brain can guess how well that work out.
Your not done… try the same test one more time. Only this time take three US Marines. Bring one sniper to do what he does best, and two infantry Marines to stand with you. Tell everyone that they are not allowed to come within 50 feet of your stuff and no talking will happen, only force. Also let the bad guys from the day before know if they come back they will be dealt with swiftly. Then go set your stuff down and move about 200 feet back and sit in a comfy lawn chair and sip fizzy lemonades.
When the bad guys see the two Marines with weapons standing between you and them most will not make a move to harm you. The few that try end up falling to the ground dead without the the two Marines next to you having to do a thing. Good thing you brought the sniper. At that point the rest of the people may hate you but they sure as hell will leave you be. You have just proven why we need a military that doesn’t “talk” about the bad guys feelings. You also have just shown the rest of us an example of what our military does for us on a daily basis. This Memorial day make sure you thank a Veteran for standing guard and protecting your stuff.
